Lash Extensions - Lash and Brow
Description
Lash extensions are a cosmetic procedure where professional technicians adhere synthetic, silk, mink, or even human hairs individually onto your natural lashes to enhance the length, curl, fullness, and thickness of your natural eyelashes. The lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye or damage the natural lash.
Here’s a general overview of how the procedure works:
- Consultation: The technician will discuss with you the look you want to achieve, and help you choose the best type of lash extension, length, and curl to suit your eye shape and desired look.
- Preparation: Your lashes will be cleaned, and under-eye pads or tape will be applied to protect your lower lashes during the procedure.
- Application: Using tweezers, the technician will dip the end of each extension in the lash adhesive and then apply it to one of your natural lashes, repeating the process until all lashes are covered. This is a delicate procedure that can take anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.
- Curing and Drying: Some types of lash adhesives need to be cured using a small handheld fan or mister, while others simply air dry.
- Aftercare: You’ll be advised not to get your new lash extensions wet for 24-48 hours after application to allow the glue to fully set. Thereafter, you should avoid oil-based cleansers and makeup removers as they can loosen the adhesive.
Lash extensions can last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks. However, to maintain the full look, ‘refills’ or ‘touch-ups’ are recommended every 2-3 weeks. It’s also worth noting that lash extensions require careful maintenance and can be quite a commitment, both in terms of time and cost.
