Merz Ultherapy - Non-surgical Facelift
Description
Ultherapy is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that gives skin its youthful firmness and elasticity. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to sagging and wrinkling. Ultherapy aims to counteract this process.
The procedure is FDA-approved and works by delivering ultrasound energy to the deep structural layers of the skin, essentially the same layers that are addressed in a surgical facelift, without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. This energy triggers the body’s natural response mechanism, stimulating the growth of fresh, new collagen and strengthening weak collagen.
While it does not duplicate the results of surgery, Ultherapy has proven to be an inviting alternative for those who are not ready for surgery. Some of the areas that are commonly treated include the brow (for a brow lift effect), under the chin and on the neck (to address sagging skin and wrinkles), and the décolletage (to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest).
Ultherapy is generally well-tolerated, but comfort levels can vary from person to person. A typical session lasts between 60-90 minutes for face and neck treatments, and around 30 minutes for chest treatment.
Results aren’t instant and can take 2-3 months to fully develop as the body produces new collagen. The procedure generally produces tighter, firmer, and better-fitting skin. Some people might need more than one treatment to achieve their desired results.
