  • Lori M. is the absolute best!

  • Great facials, mani & pedis. They have some of the best product lines and the best estheticians in all of Seattle!

  • I love this place! It is a beautiful place to visit and has a very relaxing feeling. Candles are lit everywhere and the staff are very soft spoken and friendly. I love Lori who does sugaring like a pro! They even offer a special chocolate treat on your way out – and tea on your way in. It is a lovely experience in a beautiful place!

  • Thanks to Groupon, I’ve been to Penelope & The Beauty Bar twice so far for sugaring and waxing services. Both times were great experiences, great customer service, timely, and a convenient location downtown close to work! The rooms are fairly small, but front desk and waxer are very nice and professional. And it doesnt hurt that their are plenty of retail items, purses, jewelry etc in the waiting area for you to browse as you wait!

Overall a great experience, though I dont think I would want to pay full price without a Groupon, as the prices seem somewhat high for the services like lash extensions etc!

  • I keep being asked to do a review so here it goes!

I bought a LivingSocial deal back on April 21st 2014. My boyfriend bought it for me as a gift and it was good for a Facial and Massage, which was about $170 or so. 75 min Facial and 80 min Massage. It took a while to set up my appointment, I left a few voice mails and someone FINALLY emailed me with open times… why they couldn’t call me back is beyond me. I also wrote in my email that this was a LivingSocial deal, since they ask you to let them know ahead of time. I was booked with a gentaleman for the massage and the facial would be with Stacy Fullerton. I was assured Stacy was the best. I was excited, and then VERY DISAPPOINTED my experience.

I had my appointment on a Saturday Morning. 11 am I believe. I checked in at the front, I arrived 15 min early to be on the safe side. I was offered tea and sat in the waiting area, which was small but cute. Needless to say I waited almost 30 min after my appointment time for a gentleman to come out and tell me he was ready to do my massage, he apologized for being late because ” they told me your massage was later than your actual appointment time” … why wouldn’t you let your customer know that your appointment was running late. The massage was FINE but not relaxing the guy told me he life story and kept asking me questions. I could not relax at all.Once the massage was over I got dressed and went back in to the waiting area to wait for my facial. While sitting there I thought, “huh, that went by really quick” after about 15 min the gentleman came back to the waiting area and told me he didn’t realize that my massage was 80 min and only gave a 60 min massage?! Why are you SO UNORGANIZED??? And why did it take 15 min to realize that? I went back in the room which I was not happy about and HE TOLD ME where he would massage me for the remainder of the time?? Why would you let me choose? I was happy to just be done with it.

Now for the facial .. Well a nice young lady who seemed nervous told me she was ready to do my facial. She mumbled her name, and I thought, Stacy seemed to have a lot of experience, I wasn’t expecting her to be so nervous. She asked me what I wanted and I explained to her what I was looking for, and she did NOTHING that I asked. She barley put any pressure on my face when she was doing the “massage” part of it. The product she put on my face, literally smelled like cat food or something. I was getting sick from the smell and I told her and she said nothing. The steam machine was broken and she spent 15-20 min trying to set it up to hit my face right, and kept adding pillows under my head. I was not comfortable at all. At the end, I was curious about the young girl who gave me the facial. I asked the front desk when I was checking out what her name was … Lets just say it WAS NOT STACY. I showed the girl at the desk my email saying I was booked with Stacy, and her response was that Stacy “does not do LivingSocial deals” and they gave me a new girl.

All I wanted was to get out of that place and never look back. I emailed LivingSocial and received GREAT customer service.

  • I went here for the sugaring services because they had a really good deal on Groupon. Overall, I had a really positive experience throughout my entire appointment. I really liked the refined yet cozy decor and how nice the aestheticians were. I was treated very well and was never once given sub-par service because I bought a discount deal. Everyone is very approachable and down to earth.

I stopped going only because I got chronic foliculitis, which is a personal skin problem and doesn’t reflect the practices and safety measures they take. Wish I could get Brazilians like a lot of other ladies, but sadly my skin just doesn’t like them.

Other than that, if I could afford other services, I would come here for them.

  • This unassuming salon is tucked downstairs at the Fairmont, which is a perfect quiet spot in the beautiful hotel. I love the staff; they’re always welcoming. And when you catch sales or use a groupon or buy a membership (I waited until the membership went on sale in November) the services are a great deal. I go back as often as I can.

  • I love the Beauty Bar and that they sell Biologique Recherche. P50 changed my life!

  • Every single experience I have at the Beauty Bar has been exceptional. I have had a few different people for sugaring sessions and massages, and cannot believe how quick, efficient, and comfortable they make the experience. Getting sugared and waxed is a pretty personal thing, so to have someone make it such a welcoming experience is pretty great. I’ll always come back here for everything. Thanks so much 🙂

  • Having a Mani/Pedi from OLIVIA!!! is at the top of my list of FAVORITE THINGS! Thank you Penelope and Olivia for this wonderful high-tech technique that you have perfected, and for the great, relaxing environment to receive it! I also love the $10 parking validation right accross the street. It makes it so easy to come and go. I recommend that everyone try a Mani/Pedi at Penelope with Olivia. Your hands and feet will love you for it!

  • I’ve had a range of services done here and I have mixed experiences. I have gone for sugaring/wax after buying their special 3 for $99, which is a great price. The person I originally went to was fantastic, but she left for a different career. The other people that I’ve seen have either seemed rushed and not detailed oriented or completely unprofessional. The last wax I had (don’t remember her name) but she told me how much she is paid per appointment and how her friends are adverse to her job and looking at vaginas all day, which is not what you want to hear when you are receiving a brazilian. The massage I have had, after receiving the $50 toward a $150 treatment, was a amazing and she really paid attention to my body’s needs, as apposed to some massages that feel routine. I have also had a mani/pedi and after explaining that I was a therapist, the person proceeded to talk to me about personal issues and wanting advice as I tried to veer from the conversation and relax myself, I found it very difficult and the quality of my mani was fair. As far as the staff, I feel they are mostly pretentious and I’m not sure if it is because I use a deal most of the time I’m going because this place is very expensive. I don’t get a ver genuine feel from them. I have another deal for $50 toward a $150 service and I am not really wanting to use it, if that gives any indication of wanting to go back. For the price, I expect a lot more.

  • I’ve been going to this salon for a while now and I still love it. It’s an adorable little spot tucked away in the Four Seasons where you can sneak away and get some pampering during your lunch break — at least that’s what I do! 🙂

  • I had a WONDERFUL full spa day the other day. I had a massage, body scrub, facial, hair and make up done. I truly enjoy my spa days and I really look forward to them. I’ve been to many spas around the world and I have to say that this one is lovely. I would have no problem returning and probably will before my vacation is over. There are two disappointing things about the spa. First is the fact that there is no shower. When getting a scrub it is impossible to get everything off without a shower. There is a shower on the second floor in the hotel gym. Of course time should be set aside for this and it is slightly inconvenient having to leave the spa and go to the 2nd floor. The other issue is the noise. For a spa it is louder than it should be. Other than these two issues, neither a big deal, my experience was great.

  • I’ve been coming to Penelope&The Beauty Bar for about 3 years now and don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else for wax/sugar! The people are great and know what they are doing. It’s also a very relaxing environment and they sell some great products as well. There used to be amazing groupon deals, but the packaged deals they sell at Penelope are great as well.

  • I’ve been here twice for sugaring treatments and both times were wonderful! Or at least as pleasant as a wax can be! 🙂

  • I absolutely love this spa, the lounge area is perfectly lovely and very serene. The staff is always very obliging and friendly. I have been here for waxing many times and Sonja is my absolute favorite! She is so wonderful and a true professional. Fastest wax you have ever had and always a delight to chat with. This spa is very luxurious and that’s how they all should be.

  • Great service! Best place to go in Seattle.

  • I am obsessed with this place. Whenever I decide to treat myself to a spa day, Penelope’s is my go to spot. They always have great groupon type deals so it can be very affordable at times. Brenna is the absolute best. I have never had a better facial or brazilin done in my life. She really knows what she is doing.

  • I treat myself to the Beauty Bar once a month. I use the Collagen Bed followed by a facial by Gunna. Gunna is one of if not the top aestheticians in Seattle. I started seeing her a couple years ago. I had adult acne and had sensitivities to almost any product I put on my face. I am now acne free with younger looking skin (I am pushing 50). Gunna has found effective products that work with my sensitive skin. I get asked all the time what I “do”, meaning are you going to a plastic surgeon. My secret is Gunna at the Beauty Bar.
