I was just informed that Dermatology of Bellevue no longer CARES about people who can’t afford regular insurance. I have WA State Coordinated Care Insurance b/c through no fault of my own, I was catastrophically injured in a head on collision & have been unable to work since (6 years), so I don’t currently have an income. Though I’ve been a patient at DofB for several YEARS, I’ve just been advised they are choosing not to honor my insurance. SHAME ON THESE SO-CALLED DOCTORS. This is what’s wrong with our health care system, doctors care more about their bank accounts than they do about patients. I was also informed these folks had NO ONE TO REFER ME TO who would take my insurance. The LEAST they could do is have a list on hand for all the people in need that they are turning away. DO NOT patronize this practice. They don’t care about YOU. They care about their $$$$$. Thanks for reading my rant. Have a lovely day.
Worst place ever. They canceled my appointment upon my arrival , I’ve been waiting for this 1,5 months .
That clinic is totally ignoring patients, i left voicemails and called and called and no one returned any of my calls. I am canceling all my sessions with them and finding a new doctors.
Went downhill after Dr. Eric Zenger left.
The new doctor is Dr. Amy Gouley. She was rude. It looks like I have to find a better dermatologist after years of going here.
My appointment with Dr Eric Zinger was quite disappointing.
My problem to him appeared to be something normal, encouraging me not to worry stating that I’m not the only one suffering of this.
I had to go to another Dermatology specialist to have my treatment given.
The service these guys provide is unmatched. I always feel welcome and looked after. I never feel like they push me into anything unnecessary, I always feel as if they’re looking after my best interest.
I’m sad I’m moving to a different state, it’ll be hard to find a department like this!
These folks are awesome. In all my tears of seeing them they have never been late, are super professional and it is very fast to get in and out. Casey and Lore up front are fabulous and Dr. Eric is a great one to work with. Very knowledgeable and a great manner about them all.
Highly recommend.
I’m not so sure about Dermatology of Bellevue. I was referred to them by my PCP’s office primarily for rosacea and dermatitis. The dermatologist either took me for a fool, is ignorant about possible treatments, or is only interested in selling laser treatments (and isn’t really interested in helping people who can’t afford them).
Most of the visit was fine – friendly and professional staff, etc. What made me suspicious was the very brief discussion I had with the dermatologist. It couldn’t have lasted more than 3 minutes. Before coming into the room, he had a chance to look at a couple pictures that one of the assistants took. Then he came in, kind of took a closer look, and told me flat out that, other than using green tinted concealer, laser treatment was the only option.
Other than the brevity, I was also suspicious because he didn’t even mention the dermatitis. A few years back I had an allergist who diagnosed it when my allergies were making it flare up pretty bad in the spring and summer. All this dermatologist told me was that it might be this or that, but it definitely had to be treated with laser if I wanted it gone.
Now, I’m a pretty well educated woman who has a very justifiable suspicion of doctors. If I think I have something, I generally do a deep dive before even bringing it up with my PCP. In this case though, I hadn’t done any research on rosacea yet. So with ample suspicion, I went home to do some reading.
Reading academic research and determining its validity, reliability, and applicability to a specific population isn’t new to me at all. I take everything with a grain of salt, and try to find as much evidence as I can to support a potential treatment. So I started reading everything about rosacea that I could get my hands on. I found *all the rosacea blogs* and was really happy to find a highly active and critical community of people testing their own treatments, keeping detailed records (usually with pictures over time), and sharing their results.
I kept looking and looking, and I wasn’t finding much until I came across some discussions about azelaic acid. Ever suspicious, and definitely not wanting to make the problem worse, I kept searching for any information about azelaic acid. I found out that a very high number of people who have rosacea (and some other skin conditions) have had great success using azelaic acid. Some even cleared up all the reddness, papules, and pustules within a month.
I think it’s kind of funny that after a week of research about rosacea I finally found out that there’s a prescription medication that is so specifically for rosacea that it’s referenced in its name: Finacea. Luckily there’s an OTC version that’s 10%, as opposed to Finacea’s 15%, and it’s kind of affordable. So, I ordered some and started using it a couple days ago in the morning and at night, and wouldn’t you know, it’s already doing a great job of reducing all the symptoms of rosacea.
Now, of course I’m not a doctor, and I wouldn’t advise someone to try this without the proper caution. I’m just using it here as evidence that Dermatology of Bellevue might have some room for improvement. Maybe this dermatologist just didn’t know about azelaic acid’s use in treating rosacea, but considering that there’s already a prescription medication specifically for rosacea, that would still be a mark against his professional development.
The moral of this very long story isn’t that Dermatology of Bellevue is “bad,” or intentionally misleading their patients. You can’t know that from one person’s experience and there are many happy clients based on their reviews. It’s more about having a healthy suspicion and going the extra mile to make sure all options have been accounted for and exhausted.
Ultimately, I am really glad that those red flags motivated me to do my own research, so thanks to them for that. I have a solution to my problem, and it seems like it’s going to be so effective that my face will be completely clear for the foreseeable future. I just hope they do a better job treating rosacea patients.
I had such a great experience! They got me in as soon as possible and staff is awesome!
We were so happy with my sons appointment last week. From the time I called til the time we left his appointment we were treated with great care, respect and concern. The ladies in the front office were so helpful and set my son up with an appointment right away which he needed badly. We were early to our appointment and they saw us right away. Erik (our PA) took a long time with my son, knew what his issue was immediately and treated him right away. Our nurse was so awesome too! I called after his appointment to update them on my son and she was so helpful. We go back in a few weeks and I’m happy we have a great dermatologist that I have complete confidence in. Thank you!!!
I would recommend this dermatologist to everyone I know. I have never waited more than 5 minutes, the whole staff is so friendly and helpful. And Dr. Zenger is the best.
Everyone here was really nice and professional, everything start to finish was a good experience.
Outstanding experience here! Everyone is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, professional and helpful. I left feeling heard, understood, cared for, and that I was their priority while I was there! I would return in a heartbeat if the need ever surfaced in the future!
Very pleased with the professionalism and care given by the physicians here. They actually cared about my concerns. The doctor already knew my issue and didn’t think it was a concern but he took me seriously because it concerned me and actually did something about it. Took 4 doctors to get this experience. I will refer everyone I know here!
The ONLY doctor who has been able to help me. The staff is super friendly & I was so grateful for all they did for me. The doctor went above and beyond to do research even after our appointment for me & managed to diagnose me. I have an extremely rare condition. I almost cried when they told me they could offer me the help that no one else could. Thank you!!
Such great care! I came here on my doctor’s recommendation, after having squamous cell and basal cell cancer. The staff is so kind and competent. I had a full body scan and they were so thorough, compared to my last dermatologist. I had a questionable mole removed that was thankfully benign. Zero pain during the removal. The office is very clean and comfortable. Love Dermatology of Bellevue!
I was referred by this Dermatologist by someone , I know and trust. I made the appoitment 2 months in advance, the day before my appoitment the office called me to let me know that the doctor was not going to be in and if I wanted to reschedule ( again another month later or i could visit the office in Bellevue. I made the appoitment and I went to the one in Bellevue the dr. was there with me five minutes max. There were not lights, mirror nothing to really see what was wrong with the spots on my face. I left the office feeling like that was a lousy visit and perhaps thats the reason the waiting room was emty. Few weeks later I received the bill in the mail, they billed my insurance company $200 for a new client visit, another $90,00 for his 5 minutes time and i had it buy two creams for a total of $105 or so. I have a bill to pay them for $131.00. I will never go back to this place .
