Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is a skin treatment that uses concentrated beams of light to improve skin texture and appearance. It’s used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including wrinkles, scars, and blemishes. The procedure works by removing skin layer by layer, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
There are different types of laser resurfacing treatments. Ablative lasers, such as CO2 and erbium lasers, remove the outer layer of skin and heat the underlying skin, which stimulates collagen production. Non-ablative lasers, like Alexandrite, Nd:YAG, and Diode lasers, do not remove any skin layers but instead stimulate collagen growth and tighten the underlying skin. Fractional lasers treat only a fraction of the skin’s surface, leaving the surrounding area untouched for faster healing. Non-fractional lasers treat the entire skin surface. Pico lasers and Q-switched lasers are types of non-ablative lasers that use short pulses of energy to treat pigmentation issues, tattoo removal, and skin rejuvenation. The choice between these treatments depends on the specific skin condition, desired results, and acceptable recovery time.
