Allergan Latisse - Facial
Description
Latisse is a prescription medication used to promote the growth of eyelashes. The active ingredient in Latisse is bimatoprost, which is a type of medication known as a prostaglandin analog.
Latisse is used to treat a condition called hypotrichosis of the eyelashes, which refers to having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. It works by increasing the growth phase of the hair follicle cycle, leading to longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes.
The medication is applied directly to the base of the upper eyelashes using a sterile applicator. It is not for use on the lower eyelashes. Improvement in lash length and thickness can be seen as early as 8 weeks, with full results typically visible after 12 to 16 weeks of regular use.
As with any medication, there are potential side effects and risks with Latisse, including eye redness, eye itching, and darkening of the eyelid skin or iris. For this reason, Latisse should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
