Pico Laser - Anti-Aging and Rejuvenation
Description
A Pico laser is a type of aesthetic laser treatment that uses ultra-short pulse durations to target and break down pigments or particles in the skin. The term “Pico” refers to picosecond, which is one trillionth of a second. This is much faster than traditional lasers, which operate at a nanosecond (billionth of a second) speed.
Pico lasers are primarily used for skin pigmentation issues, tattoo removal, acne scars, and skin rejuvenation. Because the laser pulse is so quick, it’s able to shatter the pigment or particles into tiny pieces, making it easier for the body to clear them away. This results in a more efficient and effective treatment process.
The most well-known Pico laser is the PicoSure laser by Cynosure, but other manufacturers also produce Pico lasers, such as PicoWay by Syneron Candela and PiQo4 by Lumenis.
Here’s a brief overview of what Pico lasers can be used for:
- Pigmentation and Discoloration: Pico lasers are very effective at breaking down pigments in the skin, making them an excellent choice for treating freckles, sun spots, melasma, and other types of skin discoloration.
- Tattoo Removal: Pico lasers are especially effective for tattoo removal because they can break up ink particles into much smaller pieces compared to traditional lasers. This allows the body to remove the ink more effectively. They are also able to target multiple colors of tattoo ink.
- Acne Scars and Skin Rejuvenation: Pico lasers can stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin, leading to improved skin texture and reduced appearance of acne scars.
As with any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to consult with a professional to determine whether a Pico laser treatment is the right option for your specific skin concerns. Side effects can include redness, swelling, and discomfort at the treatment site, but these are usually temporary.
